Pharmacological action:
Sulfadimidine Sodium belongs to the sulfonamide antibacterial drug. Its mechanism of action is to competitively inhibit dihydrofolate synthase, thereby interfering with bacterial folate metabolism, preventing the synthesis of bacterial DNA, RNA and protein, and achieving the purpose of inhibiting bacterial growth and reproduction. It is effective against Gram-positive and negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Pasteurella, Streptococcus, etc.
Indications:
Used to treat bacterial infections of livestock and poultry caused by sensitive bacteria, especially:
Respiratory tract infections (such as pneumonia)
Digestive tract infections (such as enteritis)
Urinary tract infections (such as cystitis)
Sepsis, arthritis, etc.
Usage and dosage:
Intramuscular or intravenous injection.
5-10 mg per kg of body weight, 1-2 times a day, the course of treatment is generally 3-5 days, or follow the doctor's advice.
Adverse Reactions:
Long-term or high-dose use may cause:
Allergic reactions
Crystallized urine (can be prevented by drinking more water or alkalizing urine)
Mild effects on liver or kidney function
Contraindications:
It is prohibited for animals allergic to sulfonamides.
Use with caution in animals with severe liver and kidney dysfunction.
Precautions:
It should be used according to the recommended dose and course of treatment to avoid excessive or long-term use.
Sufficient drinking water should be provided during treatment.
