Iron Dextran 10% Plus is a treatment and prevention of iron deficiencies in piglets and calves. It combines iron dextran and vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin). Iron is essential for the formation of red blood cells and haemoglobin, and contributes to normal functioning of metabolism and immune systems. Vitamin B12 is a water-soluble vitamin that plays a vital role in the activity of several enzymes in the body. It is critical in the development of genetic material and the production of red blood cells, and contributes to normal functioning of metabolism and nervous and immune systems.
Indication:
Prophylaxis and treatment of anaemia in calves and piglets.
Dosage and Administration :
For intramuscular or subcutaneous administration:
Calves: 2-4 ml subcutaneous, in the first week after birth.
Piglets: 1 ml intramuscular, 3 days after birth.
Contraindications:
Administration to animals with vitamin E-deficiency.
Administration to animals with diarrhoea.
Administration in combination with tetracyclines, because of the interaction of iron withtetracyclines.
Storage: Tightly sealed, store in a cool and dry place, avoid light.
